Healthy food for a healthy nation: This Delhi school wins ‘Rashtriya Poshan Samman 2022’

SHARP NGO confers Apeejay School, Saket with best nutri canteen award for providing students with healthy and nutritious food items

You must have come across so many quotes on mindful eating. The most cliché yet powerful quote is “You become what you eat” and it indeed holds true. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and thereby nutritious food is essentially important for students, especially during their growing up ages. After all, a healthy student is an asset to the nation.

Apeejay School, Saket has always been aware of this truth. It is therefore no surprise that the school has been conferred the ‘Rashtriya Poshan Samman 2022’ by SHARP, a non-government organisation that runs scientifically-planned health programmes for school children, for providing high quality nutritious food to its students.

Speaking about being conferred with this title, Ms. Nalini Malik, Home Science Teacher  said, “I am in-charge for the canteen food items. I always ensure that the students get all sorts of nutritious food in the canteen. The food is prepared under hygienic conditions and is totally healthy.”

She further added, “We follow a menu cycle at the school and so we prepare a new dish everyday. Some days we provide our students with sandwiches, then matar kulcha the next day. The items keep changing. We also provide protein-rich dishes such as rajma, paneer as well as rolls that are filled with seasonal vegetables.  These are liked a lot by the students. We don’t encourage potato items a lot, since potatoes are rich in carbohydrates. At Apeejay Saket canteen, we are totally committed to providing every child with a plate full of nutrition in the canteen.”
