Recently, Apeejay School, Kharghar, organised a comprehensive Career Counselling and Orientation Programme for students of Classes IX and X. The aim was to provide provide clarity, confidence, and direction at a pivotal stage of academic decision-making for students and parents. The initiative aimed to equip students with a deeper understanding of career possibilities while enabling parents to actively support their children through informed guidance.
The session was lconducted by Mr Hiten Shah, Founder, Grad Guide and a renowned career counsellor with extensive experience in career planning and global university admissions. Drawing on his expertise, Mr Shah offered valuable insights into the rapidly evolving career landscape, highlighting emerging professional domains, changing industry requirements, and diverse entrance pathways. He emphasised the importance of aligning academic choices with a student’s individual strengths, interests, and aptitudes rather than relying on conventional or peer-driven decisions.


Addressing the gathering, the school Principal, Dr Sonali Balwatkar, underscored the significance of early career awareness in today’s dynamic global environment. She encouraged parents to nurture their children’s unique talents and interests while supporting them in exploring diverse opportunities. She further highlighted that effective career planning is a collaborative effort involving students, parents, and educators working together.
The key focus of the programme was to address common misconceptions around stream selection. Mr Shah reassured parents and students that academic pathways today offer considerable flexibility and that multiple opportunities remain open even after an initial choice of stream. Through engaging discussions and real-life examples, he encouraged students to explore options with an open mind and adopt a research-driven approach to career planning.
The interactive nature of the session allowed participants to raise queries related to subject selection, higher education options, global admissions, and long-term career preparedness. Parents were also introduced to personalised career guidance services, including one-on-one discovery sessions, detailed psychometric assessments, and structured follow-up counselling. These services are designed to help students develop a customised, future-ready career roadmap based on informed self-awareness and professional insights.
