On October 28, 2023 Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised that his government has significantly increased employment opportunities in both traditional and emerging sectors, including renewable energy, defense exports, and automation.

During a virtual event where he distributed appointment letters to nearly 51,000 people hired in various government departments as part of the ‘Rozgar Mela’ initiative, he reaffirmed his government’s dedication to the youth of the country.

The PM highlighted that the government not only offers employment but also ensures a transparent recruitment process. Efforts have been made to streamline and restructure the examination procedure.

Modi stated that India is now equipping its youth with skills and education to tap into emerging opportunities, noting that the country’s progress is creating new employment prospects across all sectors. He also mentioned that the recruitment process by the Staff Selection Commission has been significantly expedited. Examinations are now conducted in 13 regional languages, in addition to Hindi and English, to address language barriers for affected individuals.

In addition, he discussed the recent recognition of several Indian places as tourism and heritage sites by United Nations bodies. He cited that the boost in tourism is contributing to additional employment opportunities. A similar positive trend is observed in the sports sector, with Indian athletes achieving better performance.

He highlighted the growth in the drone sector. Alongside, the Khadi sector has experienced a resurgence, with the government restoring its lost glory. It has now registered a business of over Rs 1.25 lakh crore, compared to a mere Rs 30,000 crore a decade back, creating numerous jobs in the Khadi and village industry sector particularly benefiting women.

Initiatives to establish more medical colleges, IITs, IIMs, and IIITs have led to an increase in skilling and education, equipping the youth to seize new opportunities. PM concluded by expressing that the recruits are becoming important allies in the nation-building journey and encouraged them to promote ‘vocal for local’ during the ongoing festival season.
