GATE 2025 registration; important details to check

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 registration process will close tomorrow, September 26. Aspiring candidates can submit their applications online via the official website — gate2025.iitr.ac.in. Organised by IIT Roorkee this year, GATE 2025 will be computer-based exam slated to be held in February 2025.

GATE tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, and Humanities. Registration for GATE 2025 began on August 28 and included 30 test papers covering full and sectional papers. The application fee is set at ₹ 900 for women, SC, ST, and PwD candidates, and ₹1,800 for all other candidates, including foreign nationals.

Candidates who miss the September 26 deadline can still submit their applications by October 7 but with an additional late fee.

To apply, candidates should visit the official GATE 2025 website, complete their personal details, select test papers, and upload scanned copies of the required documents, such as a passport-size photograph, signature, category certificate, and valid government ID.

Specifications for Photograph and Signature

  • The photograph should be a passport-size (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm), clear, color photo with a white background. It must be in JPEG/JPG format with a resolution between 200 x 260 pixels and 530 x 690 pixels, and a file size between 5 KB and 1 MB.
  • The signature must be in black or dark blue ink, in JPEG/JPG format, and the file size should range from 3 KB to 1 MB. Ensure it matches the signature on the exam day. The GATE admit card photo and signature will be based on the uploaded images, so it’s important to follow the guidelines to avoid application rejection.
