At Apeejay School, Tanda Road in Jalandhar, Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations were carried out with enthusiastic participation by pre-primary children along with their mothers.

Commemorating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the Hindu deity of wisdom and prosperity, tiny tots decorated ‘Pooja thalis’ and showcased their creativity. The school staff, teachers and students also performed the ‘Ganesha Aarti’ and prayed to the Lord’s and sought his blessings for their future endeavours.

Ms. Pardeepika Kapoor, a homemaker, attended the event with her daughter, Aadhya. Ms. Kapoor says, “It was an exciting experience! In the school, we got a chance to decorate the pooja thalis. A day prior to the event, Aadhya was very excited to go to the market and get the best materials to decorate it. Due to this activity, my daughter and I got a great opportunity to collaborate and bond. Other student participants and their mothers also put in great efforts to rejoice at the occasion. At home too, we are celebrating the festival with immense spirit and vigour. We have placed an idol of ‘Ganesh Ji’ at our home for three days. Through these endeavours, Aadhya is learning the importance of celebrating the festival.”

Sukriti Gumber, mother of student Syra, says, “Each year, the school comes up with innovative activities to mark the festival. During the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations held recently in the school, we decorated ‘thalis’ together. Syra felt that she could showcase their thought-process and imagination in a big way at the event. Last year too, we participated in making Ganesha idols from clay and it was great fun. These school activities have been really helpful in boosting my daughter’s confidence, improving her eye-hand coordination and fine motor abilities.”
