Despite life coming to a standstill during the pandemic, Apeejay Svran Global School is doing its best to provide students with a holistic educational environment. The school participates in various inter-school activities and competitions keeping in mind the overall development of its students. Not just do these competitions provide the students a platform to test their skills but also provide the requisite exposure to learn and evolve.
A virtual PAN India competition ‘Talentine Gala 2021’ was recently organised by Vidya Niketan School, NIT Faridabad. The competition included numerous interesting events which focused on many pressing issues. Students from Apeejay Svran Global School participated in the following events: Exploring Science, Tribal Life of India, Astrophile, Versatile Newscaster, Designer Skill- Creating an innovative E-newsletter and Tech-Mania.
Augustya Dangwal
Augustya Dangwal of class 6 secured the third position in the Exploring Science event. He explained the Archimedes principle of buoyancy by preparing a miniature raft. He further elaborated on the concept of density i.e. mass divided by volume through a science experiment by calculating the number of wooden blocks required to make the raft which would displace the mass of water in the tub thereby making the raft float.
Harshpreet Kaur
Harshpreet Kaur of class 9 secured the Third position in the Tech-Mania event. She prepared a model of a smart streetlight system using infrared rays. Her model promoted energy conservation by using infrared rays and a photodiode as the lighting system on the road. When a vehicle comes in front of the infrared LED, infrared rays are reflected back to the photodiode which converts light into electric current and the street light (LED) glows thereby lighting up the road only in the presence of a moving vehicle.
The Principal, Mrs Deepika Arora acknowledged the efforts of the students and teachers who put their best foot forward in creating another moment of pride for the school. She awarded the winners with certificates and prizes.
“Inter-school competitions play a vital role in engaging students fruitfully. This hones soft skills and aids them with the ability to handle pressure and not just focusing on winning prizes. We are committed to providing experiences to our students to showcase skills and uncover their personal aptitude.”
