The click-happy generation likes to engage with diverse knowledge resources online. But, how safe are the links, websites and social media accounts we engage with on a daily basis? In the digital space, the spread of fake news and misinformation has become an issue that requires immediate attention.

Sharing a global platform to ideate and discuss on how to curb the dissemination of false news during Covid-19, 11 students of classes 9 and 10 from Apeejay School, Saket participated in a video conference on ‘Fake News Online and Social Media’ under the Generation Global Program on 27 August.

Aimed at helping students build knowledge, skills and competencies, the program allows them to come together with fellow students from across the world to engage in discussion and dialogue regarding issues pertaining to social and global importance.

Students of Apeejay, Saket also shared their views on how the fake news is becoming a major menace in India in the time of life-threatening pandemic. The session also acquainted Apeejay students about foreign cultures and traditions, while allowing them to bring out the cultural ethos of India internationally.

“It has been the endeavour of Apeejay, Saket to add international dimensions to its teaching-learning process. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have ensured that our in-house events and inter-school competitions are open for international participation. The idea of Vasudev Kutimbkam and Global Village has become a reality at the school as we foresee a global canvas that needs to be painted by our students. I envision them to become global citizens but with an Indian heart.”
