The much-awaited Diwali festival is round the corner and who doesn’t like to celebrate this festival of lights! Everyone has geared up making special preparations for the big bash. The students of School of Journalism & Mass Communication (SJMC) from Apeejay Stya University  (ASU) in Gurugram are no exception. Last week,  they donned the theme, colour and enthusiasm of this festival as they organised ‘Euphoria 2023’.

Students from other departments of Apeejay joined together in the amphitheatre while infusing a sense of fervour, enthusiasm and unity. Each student reflected a feeling of intense excitement and happiness as they participated in various games as well as activities thereby making the pre-Diwali celebration a memorable one.

The event featured a plethora of enticing food stalls, offering a diverse range of food delights. For those seeking entertainment, the game stalls provided hours of fun and competition. Home decor enthusiasts had the opportunity to explore an exquisite home decor stall, showcasing an array of Diwali-themed decorations and ornaments. From SJMC itself, various stalls of mocktail, pani puri, momos, and kulfi were put up.  In addition to these stalls, students also set up individual stalls. There was a mehandi stall by Kajal Shukla,  a cake stall by Manan Chawla, pasta stall by Sanya Hasija and many more. Moreover, the presence of a talented DJ kept the crowd grooving to the beats of energetic music.

The day-long event was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Raj S Dhankar, who further  appreciated the efforts of each volunteer. He stopped over at all the stalls and applauded the students for their attempt.

Further, faculty members of all the departments also complemented and encouraged the students for such a beautiful initiative organised in the Apeejay campus. A special appreciation was shared with the event organisers including Surbhi Singh, Shivani Singh, Drishti Khanna, Ashita Goel, Diptayan Hazra and Mukul Hudiya for their hard work and the way they assembled everything.

The most fascinating thing in the event was the sticky notes. Students and teachers wrote their feedback of how they felt about the event on the sticky note. Donation boxes were also kept near the home decor stall for the Goonj collection drive and everyone contributed to it. Sharing her views, SJMC student Ashita Goel expressed, “The Euphoria Diwali mela event was an exhilarating celebration that brought joy and excitement to all who attended. The venue was adorned with colourful lights and decorations, creating a festive atmosphere that perfectly encapsulated the spirit of Diwali.”

Euphoria 2023 was a grand success as showcased by everyone who enjoyed the day. This was not just an event, but a platform that united all students, sprinkled the colours of joy and ignited the spark of hope. Through Euphoria each Apeejay member grandly and warmly welcomed the festival of lights – Diwali.
