Apeejay School, Faridabad, organised a wonderful programme to celebrate women on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023. Titled “The Essence of Women”, the event was attended by Apeejay students’ mothers and grandmothers.

The programme comprised an impressive line-up of women achievers from different fields, who shared valuable insights on the overall well-being of women and inspired the audience. In their role as caregivers, women often end up compromising on their health needs. Providing equal access to health and nutrition thereby helping women make informed decisions is crucial for gender equality, and that is what the event aimed to promote.

Among the activities was a yoga session conducted by Vandana Bhardwaj, a trained yoga practitioner, during which the women attending the event performed various asanas. This was followed by a cancer awareness programme by Apeejay alumna Dr Sapna Manocha, radiation oncologist, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi. Besides, food and nutrition expert Sheena Ahuja also shared helpful nutrition tips for women.

The event was a grand success and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the women in the Apeejay family. It was celebrated at the school’s Faridabad-Sector 14 campus.

International Women’s Day is observed annually on March 8 to raise awareness about women empowerment, reproductive rights, and violence against women. The theme this year was “#EmbraceEquity” to promote “true inclusion and belonging” through equitable action.

“Equity recognises that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome,” mentioned internationalwomensday.com.

“A woman is the focal point of a family. The celebration was aimed at not only appreciating the profound contribution of women at their home and at their workplace but also at empowering them to shoulder the dual responsibility with panache.”
