Almost all of us quite often say that the modern world is uniquely innovative and complex. To not just survive but shine in this new age world, blooming with diverse occupations, our education system has to prepare the students accordingly. And to reach that aim, our education system too in turn has to be re-structured.

Apeejay School Noida is always vigilant when it comes to self-betterment. The school aims to provide its students with the best of education and has time and again modified itself for the same. The school has recently begun with different Special Interest Club (SIC) activities for the students and held a workshop to spread awareness on the same. The SIC activities have been designed with the aim to provide students with a well-rounded education that enables them for success in the 21st century market.

The workshop featured three courses offered by the school – Likhavat Academy, Speech and Drama classes as well as The Smart Class. These courses provide students with a creative approach towards learning, and promote holistic development.

The Likhavat Academy offers courses in calligraphy, which is known quite popularly as the art of writing beautifully. The academy emphasises proper spacing, neatness, and beauty in writing style.

Speech and Drama classes give the students an opportunity to develop their communication skills and stage confidence. It aims to boost the public speaking abilities of all students.

The Smart Class on the other hand is a flagship program of the Apeejay Education Group that focuses on developing entrepreneurial mind-set in students. The program provides students with knowledge of finance along with initiatives in fashion design studies.

Students would learn about the ‘Four P’s’ of marketing i.e. product, price, place, and promotion. This would help them create a business plan for their entrepreneurial venture (akin to the popular ‘Shark Tank’ series) and the top three students would be awarded an internship opportunity.

Within this, students would get to learn in depth about entrepreneurship, including design thinking (an approach to problem-solving that encourages innovation and creativity), and empathy mapping wherein students will be mentored to create a service according to the needs and requirements of the customers

Fashion Studies is also an integral part of the curriculum and this would provide the student with a roadmap towards becoming a professional fashion designer. The course covers the fundamentals of fashion in depth and also introduces students to the history of fashion in India and currently emerging trends.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has taken the world by storm since the past weeks and it is thus imperative for students to be familiar with robotics. It aims at developing skills and knowledge among students to use AI in creating innovative solutions for real-world problems.

All in all, students were explained about the classes in detail and there seemed an overwhelming excitement among the pupils to study these newly emerging fields. Speaking about the event, activity coordinator Ms Sonia Kapoor mentioned, ” This is an excellent initiative. Special Interest clubs cater to the diverse interests of the students and gives them a platform to hone their talents and foster holistic development.” She added, “This will help students immensely as they get an opportunity to sharpen their essential life skills such as public speaking among others. These social soft skills go a long way in today’s day and age!”
