In a resplendent display of patriotism and unity, Apeejay School, Noida celebrated the 77th Independence Day with a special assembly. During the event, students of class 12 F paid homage to the spirit of freedom while addressing contemporary issues and showcasing their talents. The event commenced with an eloquent thought that set the tone for the proceedings. A
soul-stirring, self-composed poem resonated through the halls, celebrating the essence of freedom and its profound significance. The gathering then witnessed a poignant talk-cum-video presentation, thoughtfully crafted to honour the memory of those who fought tirelessly for India’s liberation. The presentation traced the arduous journey of India’s freedom struggle, shedding light on the sacrifices made by valiant freedom fighters.

Further, the students demonstrated their thoughtfulness and awareness through an insightful group discussion on the pervasive issue of ‘Body Shaming.’ Members of the Interact club of Apeejay School, Noida eloquently shared their perspectives on various aspects of this social challenge, shedding light on its harmful effects. With courage and candour, students recounted personal experiences of enduring body shaming, and the discussion also highlighted the importance of embracing body positivity.

Amidst the patriotic fervour, the school hosted an inter-house percussion competition for students from classes 6 to 10. Each house showcased their unwavering love for the nation by delivering a scintillating symphony of timeless patriotic songs. Renowned alumni and rising stars in the music industry, Mr. Agam Singh and Mr. Madhav Chakravarty, graced the occasion as judges. Mr. Agam Singh, an accomplished audio professional and Spotify verified artist, commended the participants for their enthusiasm and emphasised the role of participation in nurturing success and confidence. Mr. Madhav Chakravarty, an exponent of Hindustani classical music, shared his insights and praised the students for their exceptional musical renditions.

The assembly also encapsulated the spirit of India’s progress and unity through captivating performances. A soulful choreography portrayed the vibrant hues of the new India, symbolising growth, and cooperation. An energetic dance performance epitomised the energy, innovation, and diversity of the Indian youth, further underscoring the nation’s vitality.

The event reached its climax as Mr. Agam Singh revealed the results, declaring Nehru House as the winner, closely followed by Gandhi House in the second position, and Radhakrishnan House and Tagore House sharing the third position in the Inter-house percussion competition.

In her address, Ritu Kohli, Principal of Apeejay School, Noida, reminded everyone that true freedom extends beyond political boundaries. She also emphasises how an inclusive society stands against crime and prejudice, particularly towards women and the girl child. She commended the students for tackling the silent menace of body shaming and applauded the orchestra for their melodious contributions.

The celebration concluded with a fervent rendition of the National Anthem, filling the air with a sense of unity, pride, and hope for a brighter future. The event was a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering thoughtful, empowered, and patriotic individuals who are poised to contribute positively to society.
