The second day of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) workshop on Creative Thinking Skills, hosted at Apeejay School, Model Town, proved to be a transformative experience for participating educators. The day unfolded with a series of engaging sessions that equipped teachers with tools and strategies to foster creativity and innovation in classrooms.
The day began with a powerful session on Reframing Blocks of Creativity. This session allowed teachers to reflect on the mental blocks that often limit original thinking. Through interactive discussions, educators learned how to identify and overcome these hurdles, helping their students unlock new ways of thinking and expressing themselves.

Lateral thinking in action
Moving forward, the focus shifted to Lateral Thinking, an essential skill in today’s fast-changing world. Educators were encouraged to think beyond the obvious and explore alternative approaches to problem-solving. Hands-on exercises made this concept both practical and accessible, showing how lateral thinking can be seamlessly integrated into the curriculum.

One of the most insightful parts of the workshop was the session on Design Thinking. Teachers were introduced to the structured yet creative approach of solving real-world problems through empathy, ideation, prototyping, and testing. The emphasis was on placing students at the centre of the learning experience, enabling them to tackle challenges with confidence and clarity.
Nurturing problem-solving through PBL
The final segment of the workshop brought attention to Problem-Based Learning (PBL), a strategy that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Teachers explored how to pose real-life problems to students and guide them towards finding their solutions, thereby making learning more meaningful and engaging.

Throughout the day, group reflections and collaborative activities helped educators translate theory into practice. They didn’t just learn about creative thinking; they experienced it first-hand. This practical orientation is what made the workshop truly impactful.
The Principal of the school, Dr Rajesh Kumar Chandel, extended heartfelt gratitude to the resource persons, Ms Sandhya Dewan and Ms Davinder Kaur, for their insightful sessions. Their expertise and thoughtful delivery left a lasting impression on all attendees.
At Apeejay School, Model Town, the focus continues to remain on nurturing a future-ready generation. Through workshops like these, the school reinforces its commitment to progressive teaching methods that inspire both educators and students alike.
