As part of its commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive work environment, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, organised a POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) training for its staff. This initiative is part of the school’s ongoing efforts to promote the professional development of all employees, ensuring they are informed, empowered, and equipped to handle various workplace challenges. The training, which saw participation from teaching, administrative, housekeeping, and transport departments, was a vital step toward reinforcing safety protocols and creating awareness.

The POSH training session was led by Advocate Ms. Akshita, an expert in legal matters concerning workplace harassment. The session began by outlining what constitutes sexual harassment at the workplace, emphasising that harassment is not limited to overt actions but can also include subtle, inappropriate behavior that creates a hostile environment. Ms. Akshita carefully explained the different types of harassment, ranging from verbal and non-verbal cues to physical conduct, ensuring that participants understood the importance of recognising the boundaries of professional conduct.
One of the key highlights of the training was the discussion on the POSH Committee, a mandatory body in all organisations that ensures grievances related to workplace harassment are addressed. Ms. Akshita elaborated on the committee’s structure, its pivotal role in handling complaints, and the procedures it follows to ensure a fair and just resolution. This segment proved to be highly informative for the participants, as many were unfamiliar with the inner workings of such committees and the protection they offer.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where staff members raised concerns, shared their thoughts, and sought clarification on various aspects of workplace safety. The open discussion allowed for a candid exchange of ideas, helping to build a sense of trust and empowerment among the staff. Many attendees praised the session for its clarity and practical relevance, noting that it gave them a better understanding of how to protect themselves and others in the workplace.
This POSH training session is a reflection of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park’s ongoing commitment to the well-being of its staff. By conducting regular professional development sessions like this one, the school not only fosters a culture of learning and growth but also ensures a respectful and secure work environment for all.
