‘Employers value candidates who possess analytical skills, attention to detail’

Currently pursuing B. Com alongside the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) course, Apeejay Stya University (ASU) student Sujay Gupta emphasises that his educational journey is focused on gaining a deep understanding of accounting principles, financial management, and business acumen. “My aspirations revolve around becoming a qualified accountant and eventually attaining the ACCA certification, which will open doors to exciting career opportunities in the finance and accounting industry,” says Sujay, who is studying in School of Management Sciences at ASU and is in his final year of undergraduation.

And this aspiration of gaining in-depth knowledge in the field of finance and business led Sujay to successfully bag a campus placement at NTT Data Services. “This achievement is a testament to the valuable lessons and practical insights gained throughout my studies. Joining NTT Data Services is a dream come true, and I am eager to contribute my skills and dedication to the company’s success,” shared the Apeejay student. 

In a quick interview with Sujay, he explains how he always aspired to be part of this field and that he is looking forward to embracing the responsibilities that come with this placement. Read edited excerpts:

Did you always aspire to join this field? 

Yes, I’ve always been interested in finance and accounting. Pursuing the ACCA course alongside my B.Com studies aligns perfectly with my career goals of becoming a professional accountant and working in the financial sector.

What skills did you develop in Apeejay Stya University and how did the professors help you?

At Apeejay Stya University, I’ve been able to develop essential skills such as financial analysis, taxation knowledge, accounting software and many more . Professors have been incredibly supportive, providing guidance on complex accounting concepts and offering practical insights into the industry through case studies and real-world examples.

How did these skills help you crack the job interview?

The skills I’ve acquired through my B.Com studies and ACCA course have helped me stand out during job interviews. Employers value candidates who possess  analytical skills, attention to detail, and  understanding of financial principles, all of which I have developed through my education.

Where do you see yourself in the coming years?

In the coming years, I see myself progressing in my career as a professional accountant, gaining more experience, and possibly specialising in areas such as taxation or financial planning. Ultimately, I aim to achieve ACCA certification and establish myself as a trusted financial expert in the industry
