Diwali, the festival of lights and khushiyan (joy), holds a special place in our hearts and all of us eagerly wait to celebrate this festival. Marked by auspiciousness, this joyous occasion brings people together in a spirit of happiness and collective festivities. The air is infused with a contagious sense of joy and excitement, creating a vibrant atmosphere as individuals enthusiastically partake in the preparations for the festival.

Keeping the festive vibe soaring high, a grand Diwali fair was organised by the Department of Design, PG Department of Fine Arts and PG Department of Fashion Makeover of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar.

On this occasion, Dr. Preet Kanwal, wife of Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal (IAS), Jalandhar, presided as the Chief Guest. Dr. Preet Kanwal, who is an expert in anesthesia and critical care, expressed her views about the creative and beautiful Diwali fair that was arranged by the students and faculty members.

Dr. Preet Kanwal said, “Being here feels as if a sea of art is surging in Apeejay College. The stalls put up by the students exhibit everything that is unique, trendy and creative.” She further added, “Everything here is commendable.” Being herself an admirer of art, she felt delighted to be part of the grand festivities.

The college had draped itself in a myriad of colours and the palpable enthusiasm was evident as students and faculty members exchanged greetings, nurturing a sense of camaraderie throughout the Apeejay campus.

The grand Diwali fair showcased students’ artistic talent. The fair included unique furniture designs, Diwali platters, handmade kalidaar kurta, banjara and hand printed bags, handmade jewellery, funky canvas, cushion covers, running fabric, tie and dye. The stalls also included hand-painted dupattas, miniature paintings, stone paintings, terracotta, and thread murals. There was also an elaborate spread of food and bakery items.

In the end, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, appreciated the efforts of all the faculty members of the Design Department, Fine Arts Department and Fashion Makeover Department for successfully organising the Diwali fair and also guiding the students
