Dr Neha Berlia wins ‘Education Visionary of the Year’ award by ASSOCHAM

Dr Neha Berlia, Co-promoter, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Joint Secretary, Apeejay Education, and Pro-chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, was bestowed with the ‘Education Visionary of the Year’ award by the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) National Council on Education. The award was conferred at ASSOCHAM’s 16th International Education Leadership & Skill Development Summit held this month in New Delhi. The event was dedicated to recognising leaders in the field for “strengthening social fabric with values and ethics-based education along with life skills.”

With exceptional leadership skills and progressive, innovative thinking, Dr Berlia is successfully carrying forward the legacy of Apeejay Education, which was founded by Dr Stya Paul, an eminent educationist, and visionary himself, and is now helmed by his daughter and only child Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group. Upholding the motto of “Soaring High is My Nature”, Apeejay Education is committed to “man-making” and “nation-building” by inculcating human values and ethics alongside essential 21st century skills in today’s youth for a better tomorrow.

Mrs Berlia’s daughter, Dr Neha Berlia plays a key role across the 26 Apeejay schools and higher education institutes. She serves as the Co-chair, Education Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), and the Co-chair of ASSOCHAM National Council on Real Estate & Urban Development. She is also an active member of the Rotary of Delhi Premier. Besides successfully balancing entrepreneurship and philanthropy, she is a nationally acclaimed athlete and an award-winning sarod player.

Dr Berlia holds a graduate degree in Economics from Stanford University, US, and a master’s degree in Management & Banking from the University of St Gallen in Switzerland. Her thesis was on “BRIC Countries on the Rise: Growth Opportunities in the Indian Bank Lending Industry”. She also holds a doctorate in Finance from the University of St Gallen on “Commodity Market Internationalisation and Portfolio Optimisation: An Empirical Study.” In this, she examines price discovery and volatility spillovers of crude oil in globally linked commodity markets and asset portfolio optimisation using analytical hierarchy process and multi-choice goal programming. At present, she is pursuing the Owner-President Management (OPM) programme at Harvard Business School.

Dr Berlia has been conferred several awards for her outstanding achievements throughout her career. In 2022, she was awarded ‘Edu Visionary Leader of the Year’ at The Education Summit 2022. She was also awarded for being the “Next Gen Power Icon’ at Times Power Icons and India’s Greatest Leader Award held in 2018.
