According to a report by Foundit (formerly known as Monster India & APAC), the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) talent in India has increased by 11% in the last six months, primarily driven by the IT, retail, telecom, BFSI, and advertising/market research sectors.

The report predicts that the Indian job market will experience a 22% turnover over the next five years, with the top emerging roles being in AI, machine learning, and data segments. Among AI-driven jobs, the IT sector leads with 29%, followed by advertising, market research, and PR at 17% and retail at 11%.

Foundit CEO has also noted that while there are concerns about job losses due to AI, its adoption, including technologies like ChatGPT, has the potential to create new roles and increase employment opportunities in the country.

Although there is huge hiring demand for AI-related roles, there is a scarcity of talent as well. The growing demand for these opportunities across industries has created a setback in hiring due to the lack of specialised skills in professionals.
