Plantation holds immense significance due to its multifaceted benefits for both the environment and society. Ecologically, trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, combating climate change and fostering cleaner air. They prevent soil erosion, stabilise landscapes, and support biodiversity by providing habitats for various species. Plants contribute to water conservation, acting as natural filters and maintaining water tables.

From a human perspective, plantations are pivotal for sustenance, providing fruits, nuts, and timber. They create employment opportunities, particularly in rural areas, and support livelihoods in agriculture, forestry, and related industries. Furthermore, green spaces enhance mental well-being, offering places for relaxation and recreation. Plantations contribute to research, offering insights into sustainable land management and resource utilization. In essence, the importance of plantations extends beyond the physical environment, encompassing economic, social, and ecological aspects that collectively nurture a healthier planet and society.

Well aware of the above-mentioned facts, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) along with LIC organised a plantation drive in order to further create awareness about the environment amongst the students. On this occasion, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal at ACFA,  expressed her gratitude to Mr. Kashmiri Lal, Branch Manager of LIC Jalandhar Office, Mrs.Jasveer Kaur (AAO) and Mrs. Veena Rani and Mr. Iqbal Rai (HGA) for together participating to execute this noble activity. Dr. Dhingra said, “It is a matter of pleasure for us that along with you, we have been able to involve our students in this noble task and thus contribute our part in environment protection.”

She further added, “We shall continue to organise such inspirational programmes in the college in future too and encourage the students to contribute in environment protection and understand the importance of this in our daily lives.”
