Coding Meets Classroom Learning: Students explore open-source programming languages at two-day workshop
Faculty experts from Apeejay School of Management guide participants from programming fundamentals to practical implementation.
Professors Dr Pragya Arya and Dr Neha Gupta from Apeejay School of Management conducted expert sessions on R Programming and Python, respectively, during a two-day workshop organised by Kalindi College. The workshop offered participants hands-on training in both programming languages, combining foundational concepts with practical implementation.
Dr Pragya Arya, Assistant Professor at Apeejay School of Management (ASM), conducted a three-hour session on R Programming. She introduced participants to the fundamentals of the language and progressively guided them towards practical applications. Through a structured, step-by-step approach, Dr Arya explained key concepts and demonstrated how theoretical knowledge could be translated into programming practice.
The second day featured a three-hour workshop on Python, led by Dr Neha Gupta, Assistant Professor at ASM. The session familiarised participants with the foundational concepts of Python and encouraged them to apply their learning through practical exercises. Her guidance helped students understand the programming process and engage with the language through hands-on activities.
Both sessions placed strong emphasis on experiential learning. Rather than relying solely on theoretical explanations, the resource persons encouraged participants to work directly with programming concepts and understand their implementation. The step-by-step training helped build conceptual clarity while allowing students to explore how R and Python function in practical contexts.
The interactive format also enabled participants to engage with the resource persons, clarify concepts and develop a more structured understanding of programming methodologies. By connecting theory with application, the workshop highlighted the importance of practical exposure in developing technical competencies and preparing students to use programming tools in academic and professional settings.
The sessions provided participants with an opportunity to strengthen their coding knowledge, improve their confidence and appreciate the relevance of programming skills in an increasingly technology-driven environment.
