The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has announced that the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 will be conducted on December 6, 2026 (Sunday). The national-level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm across designated test centres in the country.
The decision was taken during meetings of the Consortium’s Executive Committee and Governing Body held on July 18, 2026, according to an official Press release issued by the consortium.
The online application process for CLAT 2027 will commence on August 3, 2026, and candidates will be able to submit their applications until October 31, 2026, through the consortium’s official portal.
CLAT is the gateway to admissions to five-year integrated undergraduate law programmes (UG) and postgraduate law programmes (PG) offered by participating national law universities. Several affiliated universities and institutions also accept the exam for admissions to their law courses.
The consortium has advised aspiring candidates to keep track of official notifications regarding the admission process, eligibility criteria, examination pattern, syllabus, and counselling schedule. Detailed information, including the application procedure and important guidelines for candidates, will be released in due course.
With the exam date now confirmed, law aspirants have several months to prepare for one of India’s most competitive legal entrance exams. Candidates are encouraged to begin their preparations early and regularly check the consortium’s official website for updates and announcements related to CLAT 2027 admissions.
