Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar celebrated Pi Approximation Day with great enthusiasm, inspiring students to explore the fascinating world of mathematics through a series of engaging and interactive activities. The celebration was organised under the guidance of Principal Mr. Yashpal Sharma and Vice Principal Ms. Aarti Shorey Bhat, reinforcing the school’s commitment to making learning meaningful, enjoyable, and relevant.

The event was spearheaded by the Mathematics Department, led by HOD Mr. Naresh Marwaha, with the objective of helping students understand the significance of the mathematical constant π (Pi) and its numerous applications in everyday life. Observed on 22/7, a widely recognised approximation of Pi, the day served as an excellent opportunity to spark curiosity and deepen students’ appreciation for mathematics beyond the classroom.

Students participated enthusiastically in a variety of thoughtfully planned activities designed to combine learning with creativity. Interactive presentations introduced them to the history, significance, and unique properties of Pi, while quizzes and mathematical puzzles challenged their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities. These activities encouraged healthy competition and active participation, making complex mathematical concepts easier to understand and remember.

Creativity also took centre stage as students showcased their artistic talents through poster-making, bookmark designing, and doodling competitions, creatively illustrating mathematical ideas and highlighting the importance of Pi in science, engineering, architecture, and everyday life. Informative discussions further enabled students to explore the practical applications of Pi in fields ranging from technology and astronomy to design and construction.

Throughout the celebration, students discovered several fascinating facts about Pi, including its infinite and non-repeating decimal nature, while gaining a deeper understanding of how this remarkable mathematical constant influences the world around them. The activities successfully transformed mathematics into an exciting and engaging learning experience, encouraging students to think critically and appreciate the beauty of numbers.

The celebration concluded on a high note, with the school applauding the dedicated efforts of the Mathematics Department for organising an enriching programme that promoted curiosity, analytical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love for mathematics. The event reflected Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg’s continued commitment to nurturing young minds through experiential learning and innovative educational initiatives.
