Celebrating cultural festivals in schools is essential for fostering students’ awareness of their rich heritage and instilling a sense of responsibility toward the environment. Such activities also provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and learn values like teamwork, respect, and mindfulness. Events like these play a crucial role in shaping well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to society.
Recently, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park organised a special assembly for the students of class I-A to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The event commenced with a heartfelt prayer to Lord Ganesha, where students collectively recited the popular mantra Vakratunda Mahakaya, invoking blessings of wisdom and prosperity.

A key feature of the assembly was an insightful presentation that emphasised the environmental benefits of using eco-friendly Ganesh idols made from clay instead of Plaster of Paris. The students highlighted the importance of protecting water bodies and urged the audience to opt for idols that dissolve easily in water, preserving aquatic life. This message resonated deeply with the audience, raising awareness about the significance of sustainable celebrations.
“Ganesh Chathurthi signifies the removal of obstacles and new beginnings. At Apeejay, we believe in celebrating all the festivals with fervour and enthusiasm. The class I-A assembly not only propagated cultural and moral lessons but also encouraged eco-friendly ways of celebrating our festivals. I am proud of the way our students presented the Ganesh Chathurthi assembly,” says Ms Rachna, pre-primary coordinator at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.

‘Thank you to the teachers and the school for organising such a wonderful Ganesh Chaturthi event. The children’s performances were heartwarming, showcasing their talent and hard work. Your efforts in preparing them for the dance and skit were evident, and it was clear that the kids enjoyed participating. The theme was beautifully presented, offering an engaging way for the children to learn about our traditions. I’m sure all parents share my pride and happiness. A big thank you for nurturing our children’s creativity and confidence’ added Ms Reena Khan, mother of Shahan Khan, a student of class I-A.

Adding to the festive spirit, students performed lively dance routines, showcasing their enthusiasm and talent. The performances not only entertained the audience but also reflected the students’ dedication to the cause.
The assembly successfully conveyed the importance of eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance, inspiring them to adopt greener practices.
