CBSE Class 12 Biology exam analysis 2023: A moderate paper in terms of difficulty

Class XII students took the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) Biology exam today, March 16, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. The three-hour paper was of 70 marks.

The question paper had five sections and a total of 33 questions, all of which were compulsory. Section A had 16 questions of one mark each; section B had five questions of two marks each; section C had seven questions of three marks each; section D had two case-based questions of four marks each; and section E had three questions of five marks each.

As for the difficulty level of this year’s question paper, Monisha Sharma, PGT Biology, Apeejay School Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, says it was “moderate”. “There was nothing out of the syllabus,” she said.

Here’s the Apeejay teacher’s analysis of the CBSE class XII Biology question paper:

1. The paper followed the standard CBSE pattern and covered all expected questions.

2. Section A of the paper had easy to moderate questions.

3. Section B and C were of moderate level and Section E had direct questions.

4. Section D (case-based) required critical thinking.

5. The paper was not lengthy.

The CBSE class XII exam began on February 24 and will end on April 5.
