CBSE class 10 Exam Analysis: ‘The question paper encompassed the recommended syllabus’

The Central Board of Secondary Education class X Social Science Board exam was held on March 7, 2024. The paper was divided into two parts – Theory of 80 marks and internal assessment of 20 marks making it a total of 100 marks.

The three-hour duration paper had 37 questions where 50 per cent weightage is allocated for competency-based questions (CBQs).

According to Sukhpal Singh Sarkaria, Social Science teacher at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, the format of the question paper was as follows:

Questions 1 to 20 are MCQs for one mark each.

Questions 21 to 24 are very short answer-type questions of two marks each.

Questions 25 to 29 are short answer-type questions of three marks each.

Questions 30 to 33 are long answer questions of five marks each.

The analysis of this year’s exam paper is:

·        The level of the question paper was moderate.

·        The paper covered the prescribed syllabus.

·        The exam paper was more or less the same as compared to last year’s paper.

·        Students were quite happy after attempting the paper.

·        The paper was easy to score as it is directly from the NCERT book.
