CBSE 10th English exam 2023: Tips from a teacher to get the perfect score

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class X English exam will be held on February 27, 2023. Instead of waiting till the last minute, students must gear up and read their textbook thoroughly to be able to answer any possible form of a question.

How does one score good marks in class X English Board exam? Manjusha Das, TGT English, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, says, “English is one such subject that can elevate your scores and compensate for the loss of marks in the core subjects. Most of the students score above 90 in English just by reading NCERT. Although, you have to go an extra mile for the perfect score.”

Section-wise tips

She shares the following section-wise preparation tips that can be helpful for aspirants:

*Students must be aware of the syllabus and the question pattern, including the mark distribution.

*Don’t forget to follow a study schedule.

*Thoroughly read the NCERT textbook as many times as possible.

*Set a timer and solve sample papers. Devote time to each section according to the weightage.

*Reading section: Though it doesn’t require prior knowledge, develop the habit of reading informative articles, novels, etc, to enhance your vocabulary and understanding of a text. Ideally, this section can be completed in 40 minutes.

*Grammar section: Revise the basic concepts of grammar taught in school. You can refer to a grammar book.

*Writing section: Work on the format for all topics of writing skills. Mug up a few set opening and closing lines, particularly for formal letters.

*Literature: Stick to the word limit. Try to underline some key points in the answers to bring to the immediate notice of the evaluators.
