Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, recently hosted an engaging and educational event Financial Soccer. The session aimed at promoting financial literacy among students. This FIFA-backed game was designed to teach students essential money management skills like budgeting, saving, and responsible spending in an interactive and fun environment. The event encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, providing real-life financial decision-making scenarios.

Twenty-five teams from MBA, BBA, and B.Com (H) classes participated in the shortlisting round, from which eight teams advanced to the knockout phase. The financial quiz competition saw fierce competition, and after intense rounds of gameplay and financial quizzing, Team Argentina emerged victorious by defeating Team Brazil in the final match.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, commended the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication to financial literacy, emphasising that the knowledge and experience gained were more important than the outcome. Dr. Bagga extended his gratitude to Madam Chairperson Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia for her visionary leadership in fostering initiatives that combine education with practical learning.

Team Argentina, consisting of Chanchal, Jishmaan, Amritanshu, Gagandeep, and Manvir Kaur from B.Com (H) Semester V, were crowned champions, while Team Brazil, comprising Love Malhotra, Ravleen Kaur, Mehak Gupta, Angel Sharma, and Aniket from MBA Semester I, were the runners-up.

The event’s success was attributed to the remarkable efforts of the organisers, Mr. Kanwal Gurleen and Mr. Gurpreet Singh from the School of Management. Dr. Bagga congratulated them for executing an outstanding event that merged education with entertainment. Financial Soccer was not only a fun and competitive event but also highlighted the importance of financial literacy in everyday life, preparing students for future financial challenges.

The event was a great success in combining fun with education, reinforcing the importance of financial awareness and literacy among the students, and equipping them with the skills necessary for smart financial decision-making in their personal and professional lives.
