Workshops play a crucial role in the education and skill development of students. For fashion design students as well, hands-on sessions provide them with practical knowledge, exposure to industry practices, and an opportunity to learn from professionals. Understanding the importance of practical training, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, recently organised a two-day workshop on ‘Hair Colouring and Rebonding’ for students of the Department of Fashion Makeover.

The workshop, held at Tanveer Salon in Jalandhar, focused on enhancing students’ understanding of hair colouring and rebonding techniques. Aspiring fashion designers enrolled in the Beauty Culture and Cosmetology program, specifically those in the fourth semester of the Fashion Makeover department, participated in the event. Led by Mr. Tanveer, the owner of Tanveer Salon, the workshop delved into the intricacies of hair care, colouring, and rebonding processes.

Mr. Tanveer emphasised the significance of understanding clients’ scalp and hair conditions, as well as the importance of using professional-grade products. He highlighted the role of repair treatments such as spa and keratin for strengthening weak hair and maintaining overall hair health. Through practical demonstrations and theoretical explanations, students gained insights into the nuances of hair colouring and rebonding techniques.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, underscored the importance of practical knowledge in the field of fashion makeover. She emphasised, “Workshops are essential for providing students with exposure to real-world practices and fostering a deeper understanding of industry standards.” Further, Dr. Dhingra commended the efforts of Ms. Meenal Sandhu, faculty member of the Fashion Makeover department, for organising the successful two-day workshop.

Such workshops exemplify the college’s commitment to offering holistic education and skill development opportunities to its students by providing hands-on training and industry exposure.
