Assam drops plans to reopen schools on Sep 1

In a surprise move, the Assam government dropped its plan to reopen schools on September 1. According to media reports, certain health concerns forced the education department to postpone its decision of reopening schools. Earlier, Ranoj Pegu, state education minister had said, “The education department will not issue any separate SOP for the reopening of educational institutions. We will take steps as per the SOP of the health department.” As of now, around 31 lakh people from the 2.31 crore estimated beneficiary list in Assam have got the second jab.
