Recently, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, inaugurated the seventh edition of its flagship Apeejay Stya Model United Nations (ASMUN 7.0), with great enthusiasm and grandeur. Recognised as one of Jalandhar’s premier academic conferences, the event brought together 1,250 student delegates across 15 committees from various schools, offering young minds a dynamic platform to develop leadership, diplomacy, critical thinking, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills while engaging with pressing global issues.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and the warm welcome of distinguished guests. The event was graced by Mr Satinder Singh (IPS), Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Mrs Sucharita Sharma, Director, Apeejay Schools & Pro Vice Chancellor; Mr Nirmal Mahajan, Member, Board of Governors; Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMTEEC; Dr Neerja Dhingra, Principal, Apeejay College of Fine Arts; Mr Yashpal Sharma, Principal, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg; Mrs Aarti Shorey Bhatt, Vice Principal; Mr Rajesh Chandel, Principal, Apeejay School, Model Town; Mr AK Sharma, Principal, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi; Mr Bhupinder Kataria, Senior Manager Operations, Apeejay Education; and Mr Hitanshu Alang, Secretary General, ASMUN, along with other esteemed dignitaries.


The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising knowledge, wisdom, and progress, followed by a graceful classical dance performance invoking Lord Ganesha. The Chief Guest was also presented with a commemorative plant as a token of appreciation.
Addressing the gathering, the school Principal reflected on the journey of MUN at the school since its inception in 2015. He highlighted how such conferences empower students to articulate ideas with confidence, think critically, and engage in meaningful dialogue. He also underscored the importance of discipline as the foundation of success.

A motivational video message by Mrs. Neha Berlia, Pro Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University & Swarn Group, inspired participants to embrace empathy, courage, and responsible leadership while reminding them that today’s youth are the architects of tomorrow’s world.
The audience was captivated by the vibrant Parade of Nations, accompanied by the presentation of Uge Hum Dhara Mein, followed by an energetic Punjabi Luddi performance celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.
In his keynote address, Mr Singh encouraged students to value the guidance of parents and teachers and described Model United Nations as an ideal platform to cultivate constructive thinking and become agents of positive change.

The ceremony also featured the screening of the opening film, Beginning of a New Era, followed by the introduction of the Executive Board and the ceremonial Gavel Presentation. The inaugural session concluded with Secretary General Hitanshu Alang officially declaring ASMUN 7.0 open, followed by the National Anthem, marking the beginning of two days of thoughtful debate, diplomacy, and global engagement.
