If you’re in touch with the current youth, you must have heard about Anime – the Japanese animation cartoons. They have taken the entire youth by storm and you will see them wear anime t-shirts, watch anime shows on OTT platforms, and refer to their friends by the names of anime characters.

Aditi Jain, a class 10 student at Apeejay Svran Global School in Faridabad, is another anime fan. However, in her case, her passion has enabled her to discover a hidden talent in her: the skill of art. In this week’s Aspiring Artist interview, the budding artist mentions how an intense desire to draw the anime characters on paper helped her find the artist within.

Since when did you start drawing?

During the lockdown, I grew an intense fascination towards Anime.  I felt a strong sense of motivation to draw them and that’s how my journey began.

That’s lovely to hear. So which art form is your favourite?

Drawing the Anime cartoons is my favourite thing in art. Deku, the lead character in my favourite Anime show, My Hero Academia inspired me to never give up.  I just love drawing him.

How does Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad support you as an artist?

My school teachers and classmates have always supported my art work and this in turn has encouraged me to continue with my hobby. I am thankful to them.

What is your definition of art?

Art is synonymous with freedom for me. It gives me the freedom to express my emotions through different characters and colours.

How much time does it take you to complete an artwork? What are your treasured ideas and themes?

Initially, it would take me a great deal of time to complete an art work. It has been a gradual journey to be honest. Now, I usually take around one and a half hours to complete an art work.

Upcoming artworks?

I love to challenge myself with new ideas and am hence looking forward to art themes that are inspired from real life situations or people.

Any new art form you wish to learn?

Digital art! It has been on my wish list for a long time.

Lastly, other hobbies apart from art?

I want to learn more about various animation software and also improve my English speaking and writing skills.
