Apeejay Stya University ushers in new Ph.D. scholars with a focus on quality statistics and research

Marking an inspiring start to the Fall 2025-26 academic session, Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram celebrated World Statistics Day 2025 in conjunction with its Ph.D. Research Scholars Induction and Course Work Orientation. The event symbolised ASU’s ongoing commitment to promoting research excellence, academic integrity, and data-driven inquiry.

The session began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Vijay Kumar, the event coordinator, who greeted the new doctoral scholars and shared insights on the transformative journey of research at ASU. He encouraged students to embrace curiosity, critical thinking, and perseverance as key elements of their scholarly pursuits.

Dr. Ananda Padhan, Convenor of the event and Ph.D. Course Work Coordinator, guided the scholars through the course structure and research expectations, highlighting the university’s emphasis on quality research outcomes and academic discipline.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Registrar, elaborated on the university’s Ph.D. regulations and reiterated ASU’s unwavering commitment to maintaining high research standards. He noted that ASU’s focus on continuous supervision, ethical practices, and innovation distinguishes it from other institutions and creates a nurturing environment for scholars.

Adding to the scholarly depth of the event, Dr. M. S. Vyas, Director of the Centre for Innovative Research and Advanced Learning (CIRAL), introduced the centre’s objectives in fostering interdisciplinary research and supporting scholars through resources, mentorship, and innovation initiatives.

The highlight of the day was an engaging talk by Dr. Arun Kumar Roy, the Key Resource Person, on the theme “Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone”, aligning with the United Nations’ theme for World Statistics Day. His insightful session underscored the significance of reliable data in advancing knowledge, ensuring transparency, and guiding impactful decision-making in research and public policy.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr. Meenakshi, CIRAL Coordinator, who acknowledged the efforts of faculty members, coordinators, and participants for making the event a memorable success.

Interactive sessions, department tours, and faculty interactions followed, helping new scholars connect with the academic ecosystem of ASU. The event beautifully captured the spirit of research and collaboration through moments of learning, dialogue, and celebration — reaffirming Apeejay Stya University’s mission to nurture research excellence, uphold data integrity, and cultivate an intellectually vibrant community of scholars.
