The MAC Forum of the PG Department of Commerce and Management at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, organised the ‘Ad-Mad Show’ with great enthusiasm, providing students with a vibrant platform to explore advertising through creativity, humour and persuasive communication. The event brought together marketing concepts and imaginative performances, enabling students to experience the process of conceptualising and presenting advertisements in an engaging format.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra highlighted that the primary objective of the Ad-Mad Show was to foster creativity, expression skills, marketing understanding and team spirit among students. She noted that the activity enabled participants to learn how to conceptualise advertisements for products, services and social messages, while understanding techniques to attract consumers.

The event also introduced students to important aspects of the advertising world, including branding, tagline creation and presentation skills. By combining wit and humour with effective communication, the activity encouraged students to express ideas confidently and develop a professional outlook.
Teams from the Department of Commerce and Management presented a diverse range of creative entries. ‘Yam Hai Hum’ highlighted the financial losses that can result from purchasing insurance from the wrong provider, contrasting them with the importance of making the right choice. ‘Cheen Tapak Dam Dam’ presented a situation where a trivial issue was exaggerated before eventually being resolved, offering a humorous lesson on the consequences of unnecessary escalation.
‘The Notorious Gang’ showcased the ease of learning a language with the help of Artificial Intelligence, while ‘GenZ Mehkma’ presented a satirical take on contemporary youth through fictional products such as ‘Dhamaka Digest Goli’, ‘GPT Paaji’ and ‘Fun Perfume’. Adding another dose of humour, ‘Bhoru Gang’ advertised their slippers as footwear capable of sustaining relationships and helping people overcome every hurdle.

The performances were evaluated by Dr. Kamini Singla Gupta, an alumna of the college, PhD holder in Commerce, Chartered Accountant and trained Kathak dancer, and Dr. Krantipal Singh, who has an established reputation in theatre and film direction at the state and national levels.
The award for ‘Best Teaser’ went to ‘Cheen Tapak Dam Dam’. The team comprising Jia Arora, Shreshth Suri, Divyanshu Suri, Vishnu Bhargav, Varun Gaba, Navya Arora and Shivam Sharma secured the first position. ‘Yam Hai Hum’, comprising Atmajeet Singh, Lakshit Sehgal, Sameer Thapar, Harpreet Paul, Nandani, Meenu and Palavi, secured second place, while ‘GenZ Mehkma’, comprising Abhinav Sukhija, Madhav Khanna, Ranvir Singh, Abhishek Nischal, Arshit Virmani, Ruchi Kumari, Gurjot Kaur and Narayan Kaur, secured third place.

Dr. Dhingra also appreciated Dr. Monika Mogla, Head of the Commerce Department, and Ms. Garima Arora, In-charge, MAC Forum, for their efforts in making the event successful. She encouraged them to continue creating such platforms, which provide students with opportunities to showcase their talent and strengthen their self-confidence.
