Apeejay students join CII National Council Meeting; interact with Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan

Schoolchildren discussed their dreams and aspirations with industry leaders, policy makers

Nine students of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park got an opportunity to meet the Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan along with other industry leaders. During their meeting with these renowned personalities, the talented bunch of students also sang the National Anthem.

This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Council Meeting recently held at ITC Maurya in Delhi.  Shri Pradhan in the CII meeting emphasised on the need for industry, academia and policy makers to work together to create a future-ready workforce for the 21st century and drive economic growth as well as social welfare.

Further, speaking about NEP 2020, he stated that the National Education Policy 2020, a philosophical document in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is under implementation. From early childhood to higher education and skill development, we are working to ensure holistic learning at all levels, he added. The Minister also said that the Education system should break barriers and empower students during the session.

Ms. Rekha Srivastava, Head of Music Department at Apeejay Panchsheel Park, accompanied the students. Speaking about her experience she says, “It was an enriching meeting. The students got a chance to speak with many leaders and share their ambitions. The experts also conveyed words of encouragement to our young minds.”

Raghav Abrol, a student of class 9 says, “I saw Mr. Satya Nadella, Executive Chairman and CEO of Microsoft and Mr. Vipin Sondhi, CEO and Managing Director of Ashok Leyland as well as Mr. Sanjiv Puri, the Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Limited. I had a few exchanges with them. My dream is to become a Chartered Accountant one day and Mr. Puri is my role model. I admire his ability to manage such a massive hotel chain.”

Another student Vaishnavi Rawat of class 8 says, “It was an honour to meet the industry leaders. One of them asked me about my ambition and I aspire to become a psychologist.”

According to student Bilal Ahsan Shamsi, “Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan is an inspirational figure. He asked me about my studies and class.” 

His school mate, Lakshit Khetan of class 6 says that he wishes to become a space scientist. “I want to discover more about the universe, the planets and galaxies.”
