Students of Apeejay School, Saket recently participated in a Road Safety Awareness Campaign organised by Delhi Traffic Police at the Traffic Park in Connaught Place. The event aimed to educate young minds about the importance of road safety and responsible commuting.
Accompanied by their teachers, students from classes 9 and 10 embarked on this informative trip early in the morning. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by senior officials, including ACP and Traffic Inspector who conducted an engaging session on essential traffic rules and safety measures.
The students were briefed on road safety norms for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Emphasis was laid on the significance of wearing ISI-marked helmets, fastening seat belts, adhering to traffic signals, and avoiding overspeeding. To reinforce these lessons, the students also participated in a short road safety awareness campaign, where they carried posters provided by the Delhi Traffic Police. The messages on the posters highlighted key rules such as “Do not drink and drive,” “Obey traffic signals,” “Two-wheeler for two only,” and “No mobile use while riding.”
Following the campaign, students watched an educational short film showcasing the positive outcomes of following traffic rules. The film effectively illustrated how responsible behavior on the road can prevent accidents and save lives.
The event was well-organised, with participation from nearly 10-12 schools across Delhi, bringing together around 200-220 students. The Delhi Traffic Police ensured smooth management, providing necessary facilities, refreshments, and water to keep students comfortable despite the warm weather.

Reflecting on the event, Mr. Gautam Vats, the PT Teacher at Apeejay School, Saket, remarked, “It was a valuable experience for the students. They not only learned the importance of road safety but were also encouraged to spread awareness at home. We asked them to check whether their parents use proper ISI-marked helmets and seat belts while driving. Instilling these values early will create responsible citizens in the future.”
The initiative by the Delhi Traffic Police successfully instilled a sense of responsibility among students, ensuring that they become advocates of road safety in their communities. Events like these serve as a crucial step toward building safer roads for all.
