Apeejay School, Saket students enthusiastically participate in a gardening activity

Students of Class I students at Apeejay School, Saket traded worksheets for watering cans in a hands-on gardening activity. The event was designed to teach children about plants not through pictures in a textbook, but through direct, tactile experience.
The session was led by the school’s gardener, who walked the young students step by step through the basics of growing and caring for plants. Students understood about gardening tools, what a plant needs to thrive and to actually water the plants themselves under guidance. For children of this age, direct involvement tends to make a concept stick far more effectively than simply being told about it.
Beyond the practical gardening skills, students also learned about the many everyday things plants and trees provide like fruits, vegetables, flowers, medicines, and oxygen. Through this activity, students got a broader understanding of just how much daily life depends on the natural world around them.
The session closed with a creative flourish: students came together to build a 3D tree, using their colourful handprints as the leaves. The collaborative project turned individual effort into something the whole class could take pride in together.
Alongside the gardening and craft components, the exercise reinforced teamwork and creativity. For Class I at Apeejay School, Saket, the activity offered an early, memorable introduction to a lesson that will only grow more important as they get older.
