The sudden onset of the pandemic led to supply chain disruptions, inflation and economic uncertainty. The global economic crisis also left its impact on the export and import markets across the world. However, now that the global economy is heading towards normalcy, businesses are looking at solid trade growth this year. To discuss this in detail, Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka recently organised an online seminar themed ‘Export-Import: Opportunities and Challenges’.
The panelists included Dr. Geethanjali Nataraj, Director, Research and Policy as well as Mr. Vikrant Wadhera, Head of Marketing and Sales from Service Export Promotion Council, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
The seminar began with Anuj Kumar, Assistant Professor at ASM introducing the guest speakers to the attendees as well as briefed them about the theme.
In his introductory session, Mr. Vikrant Wadhera provided a preview of the services sector and discussed the importance of championing services. “In India, business owners and export companies in various sectors are uniquely placed to benefit from the following growth prospects in 2022,” he said. He also shared insights into trade intelligence, export development, enabling the business environment and export promotion schemes.
Dr. Geethanjali Nataraj highlighted world growth prospects as well as the role of export and import in overall business in her address. She further discussed the growth of the Indian services sector in terms of exports and decoded the nuances of the projection in 2022-23.
The seminar was attended by the first year PGDM students of ASM. Isha Mehmood, a first-year student with ASM said, “We had a very informative guest lecture on export-import opportunities and challenges, delivered by two of the experts. In the two-hour session, we discussed and understood in depth about export-import opportunities and challenges in the current scenario. We also got a glimpse of career opportunities in international business.”
The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Mr Anuj Kumar.
