Apeejay School of Management (ASM), New Delhi, has continued its tradition of experiential learning through engaging and interactive activities. Recently the B School’s marketing society, Marketing Mavericks, organised a competition titled ‘The Impossible Pitch – Think Outside the Box, Sell the Impossible’. This activity was conducted under the guidance of faculty and students coordinators.
True to Apeejay School of Management’s emphasis on hands-on, industry-relevant learning, the competition was designed to sharpen students’ creativity, communication skills, marketing knowledge, and persuasive abilities. Participants were challenged to market products widely considered difficult to sell. The underlying objective was to apply the right marketing strategy, like positioning, pricing, packaging, and storytelling in real world settings.
The Impossible Pitch competition saw participants compete in teams of two, with each team assigned a unique, unconventional product or concept. Working within a limited preparation window, teams had to quickly identify a target audience, craft a compelling value proposition, and win over the judges through innovative branding, pricing, and promotional strategies. The result was an energetic atmosphere where students displayed confidence, quick thinking, and translated classroom marketing theory into real, applied pitches.

Judging was conducted across several parameters, including creativity and originality, persuasive communication, marketing strategy, and product positioning. Soft skills like coordination, confidence, presentation skills of the teams were also judged.
Among the event’s many highlights were enthusiastic student participation, creative and often humorous product pitches, innovative branding ideas, strong teamwork, and lively audience engagement. All these activities showcase practical application of marketing concepts taught within the institute’s curriculum.
For participants, the event yielded valuable learning outcomes. The competitive, time-bound format also helped students build confidence while strengthening their problem-solving and collaborative abilities. At the conclusion of the event, Aryan Solanki and Somesh were declared the winners.

Reflecting on the initiative, organisers noted that “The Impossible Pitch” encouraged students to think beyond conventional marketing practices. It also offered a platform to apply theoretical concepts in a fun, competitive, and experiential setting.
