Innovation is the lifeblood of entrepreneurship, driving the creation of groundbreaking solutions and products. Entrepreneurs harness the power of innovation to differentiate themselves in competitive markets, solve real-world problems, and seize opportunities. It empowers them to think beyond conventions and reimagine existing paradigms. By pioneering new approaches, technologies, and business models, entrepreneurs not only fulfill unmet needs but also pave the way for economic growth. With innovation, entrepreneurs are able to adapt swiftly to changing environments, ensuring their ventures stay relevant. It’s the cornerstone of success for any forward-thinking entrepreneur, fostering resilience and inspiring fresh ideas that can change the world.
Thus, aligned with this important trend, the Entrepreneurship Cell of Apeejay School of Management (ASM) , Dwarka, recently organised a seminar for both the PGDM-I and PGDM-II. The topic for the seminar was ‘Innovation, creativity and legal issues for start-ups and entrepreneurs’ and the key resource people invited were Prof. (Dr.) Ravinder Kaur, Professor, Deen Dayal College, University of Delhi, and Ms. Jyoti Chauhan, AGM, IPR and Patents, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited, Noida.

Kickstarting the session, Prof. Kaur, who is also the innovation ambassador for the Ministry of Education, discussed the topic with enthusiastic students with the help of some interactive games. She also highlighted the mind-set of the start-up entrepreneur and how one needs to prepare well for challenges. On the other hand, Ms. Jyoti Chauhan focused on IPR, patents and copyrights for start-ups and entrepreneurs.
This seminar can also be viewed as active participation of ASM’s E-cell in the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM), launched by the Government of India on the 75th anniversary of independence under the banner “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. This was launched to create widespread awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). All the students and faculty coordinators have received the certificates from the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.

The E-Cell is working under the guidance of Assistant Professor Anuj Kumar. Sharing his views, he mentioned, “It was an exciting and excellent opportunity for students to learn from academic and corporate stalwarts. The activity-based learning helped the students during the session. I am thankful to both Dr. Ravinder Kaur and Ms. Jyoti Chauhan.”
The students thoroughly enjoyed the session, and it was a seminar full of activity-based learning. Further highlighting his experience, Himanshu Singh of PGDM- 2022-24 batch said, “As E-cell President, I am happy to coordinate the session. This session helped us in understanding essential fundamentals about entrepreneurship. We all are looking forward to more such interactions.”
A PGDM student from the batch of 2023-25 Amar Kumar said, “E-cell organised a fantastic seminar. We, first year students, are overwhelmed to experience and discuss such a relevant topic.”
