Recently, Apeejay School, Nerul, celebrated Bagless Day-Beyond Books for students of Classes III, IV and V, providing learners with an engaging day of experiential learning, creativity, collaboration and patriotic expression. Moving beyond conventional classroom learning, the initiative encouraged students to explore knowledge through hands-on activities and meaningful experiences.
For Class III, the theme Proud to be an Indian inspired students to express their love for the nation through patriotic singing, dancing, poetry recitation, role play and speeches. Students also watched inspirational content highlighting the life and contributions of Mahatma Gandhi, along with an informative presentation on the history of the National Anthem. Adding a creative touch to the celebrations, they made colourful Tricolour badges.

Students of Class IV explored the theme My India, My Pride through a variety of artistic and literary activities. They participated enthusiastically in speeches, songs, dance performances, recitations and storytelling sessions. Poster making and quote writing allowed them to share their thoughts on India, while Tricolour cap-making gave them an opportunity to express their patriotic spirit through creativity and craft.
For Class V, the theme Beyond Books encouraged students to discover history, creativity and social responsibility in engaging ways. They learnt about the lives and contributions of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Subhas Chandra Bose, and narrated inspiring stories about India’s struggle for freedom. Students also created useful pen stands using waste materials, promoting the values of recycling and sustainable practices.

An Inter-house collage competition on India-A Land of Heritage brought together creativity, teamwork and an appreciation of the country’s rich cultural legacy. A cleanliness drive further encouraged students to take collective responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.
The Bagless Day proved to be an enriching and joyful learning experience, enabling students to step beyond textbooks and classrooms. Through diverse activities, they strengthened their creativity, confidence, communication, and teamwork while developing a deeper appreciation for India’s heritage and patriotic values.
