Apeejay, Rama Mandi students invoke the Ramayana spirit

At the Razzle Dazzle event, the emphasis was on celebrations that drove home the message of the epic in a creative manner

Upping the festive tempo, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi in Jalandhar organised a dazzling Pre-Diwali bash: ‘RAZZLE DAZZLE.’ The event commenced by seeking the blessings of the President, Apeejay Education, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia.

Ms. Sangeeta Nistandra, the Principal of the school, along with the Chief Guest for the day, Ms. Parveen Abrol, writer and social worker, Founder and  President, Divya Drishti (a Non-governmental organisation), lit the ceremonial lamp at the event. Vice-Principal, Ms. Aarti Shorey Bhat in her address welcomed the guests, parents and students to the Diwali Bash.

Lavanya, the Ms. Twinkle-toes of the school, a student of class V, performed a western dance to invoke Goddess Durga’s blessings, as the school hosted an array of events to teach students morals and ethical values.

Many fun-filled competitions were organised for the students and parents of standard nursery to VIII.  These included diya decoration, candle-making, toran-making, tattoo-making, lantern-making, artificial jewellery designing and fancy dress competitions. The students recreated a divine ambiance by participating in playing favourite characters from the Ramayana. Student-Parent duos also added sparkle to the event by showcasing their self-designed artificial jewellery in a ramp show.

Students fabricated creative dresses on the stage with newspapers and sacks, displaying their creative streak. The programme included a virtual short play on the Ramayana enacted by students of classes I, II and III. Solo song performances by Anshita Kashyap of class III and Robit Kuser of class XI Commerce, Folk Dance (Punjabi) by Harshpreet Kaur of class VIII and Bhangra Group performance by the students of class XI, delighted everyone at the event.

The Chief Guest of the programme, Ms. Abrol, complimented and congratulated the students for their talent and praised the Principal and her team for putting up an excellent show. She mentioned the former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who believed that a nation’s future is visible in its schools. Ms. Abrol encouraged the students to uphold true values and follow the golden rule of a teacher-student equation set by Guru Dronacharya and his pupil, Eklavya.

The event concluded with Ms. Nistandra’s speech as she thanked the parents, students and the school team for their persistent efforts in making the event a success.
