Apeejay organises yoga session for employees to promote the mantra of healthy lifestyle

The participants promised to lead a healthier lifestyle to mitigate the effects of sedentary work

Highlighting the importance of employees’ physical and mental well-being, members of the Apeejay City Office in Gurugram gathered for a yoga session on International Yoga Day 2022.

The session was organised by the HR team. At the session, the staff members performed pranayama and asanas with great enthusiasm. The event was a collective effort to drive home the need to follow a healthy and balanced life, with a focus on physical and mental fitness.

Yoga has many health benefits. While it improves physical strength and flexibility, it also helps alleviate stress and anxiety and boost mental health. Research has shown that practising yoga reduces inflammation, thereby keeping several chronic diseases at bay.

Sanjoy Roy, chief operating officer, Apeejay Education, said, “It was great to see the collective energy of our Gurgaon staff members translated into zeal for fitness by the HR team. Apeejay stands committed to their employees’ health.”

Ritu Mehta, director of new schools at Apeejay Education, said, “Inspired by our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of International Yoga Day, the staff members of Apeejay Education (Gurugram) participated in the 8th International Yoga Day session. They performed asanas, pranayama amidst chanting of “Om”, thus promising themselves a healthy and fitter lifestyle from the routine sedentary work. Yoga for health and a healthy lifestyle is the new mantra for them.”

The theme for this year’s Yoga Day was chosen as “Yoga for Humanity” which was announced by PM Modi in his “Mann ki Bhaat” address to portray how yoga helped many to cope with Covid-19. In 2014, the Prime Minister suggested in his United Nations address the date June 21 for observing International Yoga Day. It is being celebrated worldwide since 2015.
