Kids with a cause: Apeejay Model Town students cheer up Covid patients, feed strays during pandemic

The pandemic has been a tough phase for students. As physical classes have been replaced with virtual ones, chalks and blackboards have taken a backseat, and phones and laptop screens have become the new essentials, students have been limited to humdrum activities at home.

Recognising that Covid-19 has cast a long shadow on their regular outdoor activities, Apeejay School, Model Town in Jalandhar has introduced an Interact Club at the school where students could explore their creativity and imbibe moral values simultaneously.

The platform aims to involve young minds in activities that can enhance their sense of responsibility towards civic duties, and inculcate ethics and values outside the school curriculum. Students have been engaged to participate in a range of activities such as feeding animals on the streets, planting trees, poster-making, preparing breakfast and immunity-booster drinks, and crafting get- well-soon messages for Covid-affected patients.

Through this initiative, the school is committed to make students learn and understand real-world difficulties and encourage them to innovate new ideas to help serve those in need.

“Apeejay School, Model Town was founded with a vision to provide world-class holistic education. Our Chairman and Founder, Dr. Stya Paul believed that education is incomplete without human values and every student must be a responsible global citizen. Under the leadership of our Director, Ms. Sushma Paul Berlia, we at Apeejay strive to create an ecosystem where students learn to empathise with the less privileged and participate in activities that promote compassion for the country and concern towards the environment.”
