The Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, organised a special campus Clean-Up Drive to mark Gandhi Jayanti. The Institute through the drive commemorated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and his enduring vision of a clean and green India.

As part of the initiative, students participated in the ‘Use Dustbin, Not Ground’ campaign, aimed at promoting responsible waste disposal habits and encouraging the campus community to take collective ownership of cleanliness. The drive saw enthusiastic involvement from students who worked to keep the campus premises litter-free, reinforcing the message that civic responsibility begins with small, consistent actions.

To support better waste-management practices in the long run, new dustbins were strategically installed at key common areas across the campus. The areas where the dustbins were added include the Common Room and Reading Room, making responsible waste disposal more accessible and convenient for both students and staff.

The initiative was conducted under the leadership of 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐚, whose encouragement inspires the AIMETC community to embrace cleanliness, civic responsibility, and sustainable practices.

The clean-up drive was coordinated by Preet Kamal Kaur, Assistant Professor, School of Engineering & Technology, and Jhanavi Arora, Assistant Professor, School of Management. Kaur and Arora worked alongside student volunteers to ensure the initiative’s smooth execution and wider participation.

Organisers noted that the drive served as a reminder that small, everyday actions can create lasting change. By encouraging responsible waste disposal and keeping shared spaces clean, the institute aims to build a habit of sustainability among students that extends beyond the campus and into their daily lives.

With this initiative, AIMETC reaffirmed its belief that a clean campus lays the foundation for a clean nation. They also encouraged its students to carry forward the spirit of responsibility, sustainability, and active citizenship well beyond the classroom and into the communities they will one day serve.
