‘Apeejay has played a huge role in shaping who I am today’

Yuvika of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar is aspiring to pursue MCA and explore emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.  Her journey with ACFA has been a remarkable blend of creativity, leadership, and personal transformation. A passionate artist and BCA student, she grew into a confident, empathetic, and resilient individual while serving as Head Girl. Balancing academics, leadership responsibilities, event management, and technical pursuits, she also excelled in coding and design competitions.Read edited excerpts:

You are planning to pursue MCA, what are your learning aspirations?

After completing my BCA, I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what computer applications can really offer. Through MCA, I want to build a much stronger and deeper understanding of core concepts like programming, databases, and system design, and also get exposed to the latest technologies that are shaping the industry today. My aspiration is not just to gain a degree, but to become someone who is truly skilled and confident enough to solve real, practical problems using technology.

Which specific area of study in MCA are you excited to explore?

I’m particularly drawn to the space where traditional computer applications meet emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. Rather than seeing AI as something that could take over the roles we’re trained for, I want to learn how to work alongside it, using it as a tool that strengthens my skills and multiplies my productivity. I want to understand it well enough that it becomes an advantage in my hands, something that elevates the quality and pace of my work, rather than something I fall behind on. That’s the direction I want my MCA to take me in.

How has Apeejay and teachers helped shape your personality to face real world challenges?

Apeejay has played a huge role in shaping who I am today, not just academically but personally as well. My teachers always pushed me to think for myself, express my opinions, and take responsibility for my own learning. Whether it was through assignments, presentations, or simply classroom discussions, I learned how to handle pressure, manage deadlines, and stay confident even in unfamiliar situations. Being given the responsibility of Head Girl was one of the biggest turning points for me. My teachers constantly guided and trusted me to manage responsibilities beyond the classroom, whether it was leading my peers, organizing events, or being accountable for decisions that affected the whole school. Balancing that role alongside my academics taught me time management, leadership, and the ability to stay composed under pressure. This constant push from my teachers, both in academics and in leadership, is what built my self-confidence in every aspect of my life. Today, I feel far more capable of handling multiple responsibilities at once, and I know this mindset will help me face challenges head-on as I move into higher studies and the professional world.

How did Apeejay provide you with a platform to explore your hobbies?

Apeejay gave me every opportunity to explore my interest in the technical field alongside my academics. I got the platform to participate in competitions like Spark and various other coding competitions, where I even won first prizes. I also took part in cocurricular competitions closely related to my field, including website designing, debugging challenges, and presentation designing, among others. These platforms didn’t just let me showcase my skills, they pushed me to keep improving and stay updated with new tools and techniques. Apeejay made sure that our hobbies weren’t just a side activity, but something that was equally valued and encouraged alongside our studies.
