Apeejay School Faridabad, Sector 15, has renovated its auditorium giving it a brand-new look, spread over an area of 11,000 sq ft. The new auditorium has come up in place of a two-decade-old multipurpose hall to provide students with the latest technology and amenities.

The project began with a proper survey of the area. As part of the refurbishment, old speakers have been replaced with advanced Dolby ones while high-voltage lights have been removed to install automated dimmable LED lights, as well as a projector. The seating area, which formerly had steps, has undergone a complete makeover with permanent spacious chairs with a capacity of nearly 750 people, divided in two sections–ground and balcony. The seating has been designed keeping in mind the safety of children, including standard steps with adequate gap and a wide walking bay. In addition, big exit doors have been constructed with about two metres width, in line with fire escape norms.

The stage has also been completely revamped with new lighting and automated front, middle and rear curtains. The walls underwent an acoustic rockwool treatment meant to help absorb or diffuse sound. Modern vinyl carpet, which can be easily cleaned, has been used for the flooring.

The renovation included a thorough anti-termite treatment of the space as well. The project, which took around 12-15 months to be completed, had a clear vision of sustainability–all products used are of premium quality; environment-friendly and moisture-resistant calcium silicate tiles were used for the ceiling to ensure low carbon emission. Besides, fixtures in the green room and toilets as well as the colour schemes were aligned as per vastu shastra.

Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15 also has some other infrastructural development projects in the pipeline, in line with the school’s vision to establish a futuristic educational institution. It recently modernised the school library and is building a new laboratory with advanced equipment. There is work underway on revamping the sports infrastructure.

Apeejay School, Faridabad, was the first-of-its-kind institution established in Haryana in July 1972 with a view to meeting the educational needs of the city. Its infrastructure caters to the all-round growth and development of children. It has a separate primary wing for classes 1 to 5 in an octagonal building. The school is built on a green campus of 2.5 acres with shrubs and trees.

“When we speak about creating a conducive environment in any educational institution, one should continuously invent and reinvent. When we talk about quality infrastructure for schools, it’s not only about creating a positive atmosphere for scholastic and co-scholastic activities at the school along with keeping in mind the safety of students, but also about creating an environment for them where they can improve their aesthetic sensibility, imaginative skills, and aspirations.”
