In a spirited celebration of athleticism and camaraderie, the Department of Physical Education at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, orchestrated the much-anticipated Annual Athletic Meet 2024. The event, which took place amidst an aura of excitement and enthusiasm, witnessed the participation of students, faculty, and esteemed guests, marking a memorable occasion in the college’s sporting calendar.

The grand inauguration of the athletic meet was a spectacle in itself as Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, ceremoniously released colourful balloons, symbolising the soaring spirit and unity inherent in sportsmanship. In her opening address to the esteemed gathering, Dr. Dhingra underscored the college’s commitment to holistic student development, drawing inspiration from the visionary values of Dr. Stya Paul Ji, the Founder Chairman, and the unwavering guidance of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education and Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University. She further emphasised the significance of events like the Athletic Meet in instilling essential life skills such as sacrifice, team spirit, and cooperation among students.




Adding to the fervour of the occasion, Dr. Amandeep Singh, Head of the Department of Physical Education at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), graced the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Dhingra warmly welcomed him, lauding his pivotal role in shaping the sports and youth culture at GNDU. Dr. Singh, renowned for his athletic prowess, commended the foresight of Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia in providing a conducive environment for quality education and holistic growth. He particularly applauded the college’s Art Gallery for its portrayal of unique and creative works, reflecting the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent across diverse domains.
The Athletic Meet showcased a myriad of exhilarating events, including sprint races, long jump, shot put, tug of war, and relay races, catering to both students and college staff. Dr. Dhingra commended the meticulous planning and execution of the event, acknowledging the efforts of Dr. Monica Anand, Dean of Functions, Mr. Sahil Mahay from the Department of Physical Education, and the event organisers, Dr. Payal Arora and Dr. Aarti Verma, for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the event’s success.

As the athletes demonstrated their prowess on the track and field, the Annual Athletic Meet 2024 served as a testament to the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition among its students and staff. With adrenaline-pumping races and displays of athleticism, the event left an indelible mark, inspiring all present to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and strive for excellence in all endeavours.
