Perhaps the best word to describe human life is Navras—the nine colours and flavours of existence. Be it fateful fear, heartfelt happiness, burning inspiration or even terrifying anger, these emotions add vibrant hues to our lives. Mastering these feelings and channeling their power allows us to become “masters of our fate and captains of our soul.”

In this spirit, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, recently hosted its much-awaited Annual Appreciation Day. Themed Navras, the event was a magnificent celebration of the emotions that enrich life. The school premises radiated joy and enthusiasm, perfectly embodying the theme.

The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the esteemed Chief Guest, Mrs. Geeta Sharan, District Programme Officer, and the Guests of Honour, Dr. Supriya Dhillon, Director of Kedarnath Aggarwal Institute of Management, and Dr. Ravi Sahrawat, an alumnus of the school. Their presence elevated the grandeur of the occasion.

The evening began with the traditional tilak ceremony, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a symbolic gesture of enlightenment. This was accompanied by a soul-stirring orchestra performance. The school choir enthralled the audience with a melodious welcome song and a divine rendition of Saraswati Vandana, invoking the blessings of the Goddess of Learning.

The pre-primary students charmed the audience with an adorable dance performance to the popular track Let’s Nacho. Their exuberant energy received a thunderous response, reaffirming Apeejay’s standard of excellence. Classes 1 and 2 presented a delightful rendition of the classic fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The production emphasised the timeless message of kindness and character over superficial beauty. Class 1 students also delivered a spirited dance performance to Believer, radiating inspiration and proving that no goal is unachievable with determination.

Chief Guest Mrs. Geeta Sharan lauded the students, sharing her personal connection with the school. “I have been in regular touch with this school as my children studied here. The emphasis on morality and values is truly inspiring. The dedicated efforts of the staff in nurturing hard work and discipline deserve immense appreciation,”  she said.

Appreciating the students, Guest of Honour Dr. Supriya Dhillon mentioned, “Actions speak louder than words, and this institution has proven it. The students embody the essence of Karma theory, focusing on dedication and effort. Apeejay Charkhi Dadri truly nurtures well-rounded individuals who excel in every aspect of life.”

Alumnus Dr. Ravi Sahrawat expressed gratitude for his alma mater while saying, “I owe my success to the dedicated hard work of my teachers. It is heartening to see the school maintain such high standards. I have full faith in this institution, so much so that my own child studies here.”

Principal Dr. Vineet Vasishtha presented the school’s Annual Report, highlighting remarkable achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. He said, “I congratulate all the prize holders for their exceptional achievements and applaud every student for their efforts. Education is the cornerstone of a successful and fulfilling life, shaping character, intellect, and values. It prepares students not just for exams but for life’s challenges, fostering resilience and creativity. Remember, each step forward counts and your dedication will pave the way for a bright and meaningful future.”

The annual report highlighted how class 10 student Crispy Dhanetia made the school proud with her national level victory in archery and Deeksha Chawla, alumna of the school added another feather in the school’s victory cap by clearing the prestigious UPSC Indian Statistical Service exam.

Next up was the cultural extravaganza Navras, which was brought to life through a spectacular performance by students across Classes 4 to 12. A series of breathtaking dances and enactments illustrated the nine emotions, including Shanti (peace), Adbhutam (wonder), Bhayanak (fear), Hasya (laughter), Raudra (anger), Karuna (compassion), Bibhatsa (disgust), Veer Ras (heroism), and Shringar Ras (romance). Each rasa was introduced with an engaging narration, followed by captivating performances.

The cultural extravaganza included an evocative portrayal of Bhakti Ras by Classes 7 and 8 boys, Raudra Ras by Class 6, and Hasya Ras by Class 5, which filled the hall with laughter. The haunting Bhayanak Ras by Classes 8 and 9 boys, the enchanting Shringar Ras, and the awe-inspiring Adbhut Ras were performed with finesse. The enactments concluded with all participants uniting on stage, symbolising harmony and celebration, earning a standing ovation for their creativity and effort.
