Call it ice-breaking, call it orientation, the key idea is to make the freshers feel welcome and comfortable. Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar is aware of this simple psychological depth and hence commenced the new academic session (2023-24) with an orientation programme for the new entrants. The students across various departments in the college were introduced to the history, core values, and rules and regulations of the college.

Principal at ACFA, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, addressed the students and updated them about the values and philosophies of the college. She said, “College life is a much awaited time for anybody and it is completely different from school life. This is the time when you have to work hard to make your dreams come true by sincerely chasing your targets and setting the foundation of your career.”

She added, “Remember students, you should not limit yourselves to just academics, but also actively participate in extra-curricular activities by being members of various student bodies. You must chisel yourself to perfection, upgrade your skills, enjoy and make the most of these years. Develop your soft skills, communication skills and other essential traits to build a good personality and superb confidence levels.”

In addition, Dr Dhingra also urged the students to visit the library regularly and develop a habit of reading books and newspapers. The Principal then acquainted students with the achievements of the college and announced that ACFA has been winning the Zonal and Inter Zonal Youth Festival Championship trophies consecutively since the past 21 years.

After the address by the Principal, the department heads shared information about their discipline and conducted an ice-breaking session to introduce students with all the faculty members. Students were also informed about the employment opportunities available in their respective fields.

The orientation programme concluded with the freshers feeling confident and eager to begin the first semester of their college life.
