Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar recently witnessed a unique event, the ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra,’ organised by the NSS Wing of the college as part of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign. This was supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The event was a symbolic expression of students’ love for their rich Indian culture and an initiative to connect with their roots. Participants collected soil and rice from their homes in a kalash (a metal pot) to mark the auspicious beginning. They then carried the kalash to the college, creating an ‘Amrit Vatika’ in the courtyard. Here, they planted traditional Indian flora such as tulsi, amla, curry leaves, reinforcing their commitment to nurture and care for the planted greens.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, commended the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for their commendable efforts in organising such events. She emphasised, “Initiatives like the Amrit Kalash Yatra help students understand the significance of environmental preservation and keep them rooted in their cultural traditions.”

Dr. Dhingra extended her heartfelt appreciation to the NSS Wing for the successful organisation of the event, highlighting the positive impact it had on fostering cultural and environmental awareness among the students.
