According to Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar, artificial intelligence (AI) is primarily focused on enhancing efficiency and may not reach the level of sophistication required to replace jobs for at least the next 5-10 years. This statement emphasises that while AI has the potential to transform various industries, it is unlikely to entirely replace human labour in the near future.

“At present, the application of AI is on tasks and creating more efficiency,” said Chandrasekhar during a press conference.

The minister further mentions that the Digital India Act will regulate emerging tech, including artificial intelligence, through the prism of user harm and protecting digital citizens.
